Black Friday was a bust…

Black Friday was a bust. I got out to Wal-Mart, Best Buy and all of the other stores that advertised 50″ flatscreen tvs for a great price. Every single one of them was sold out! How many of these TV’s are these retailers carrying?? Five at this price and the rest at more than double??
The highlight of my shopping experience was in the Wal-Mart in Cleveland Heights. A fan came up and asked to take my picture. I said well don’t you want to be in the picture. She handed her camera phone to the check out person and we posed for the camera. After that, it was like there was an announcement, “Paul Wharton from some tv show you may or may not have seen is in aisle 3″! A few of them actually said “you’re on DC50, TrenDC”! My Mom and I became officially bombarded with picture and autograph requests. It’s hard to be a super fabulous, super star and at the same time make sure you’re not being charged more than $2 dollars for the face clothes there were on sale!

I met a wonderful young high school student this time last year in Cleveland. He is a friend of my family and he’s hoping to become a successful designer one day. He told me he’s spent the last year emailing me over 10 times hoping, wishing and waiting for a response. He never received anything. From the look of his email address and the lack of subject, I came to the conclusion that it was junk mail! He finally showed me some of his sketches last night and I was beyond blown away. Sedrick Hill (pictured here with me) is going to become a very successful designer for sure. We spent a good chunk of Friday night creating a concept for my new bag line. I would make my tired little sketch and then give him points and inspiration and 20 minutes later he would come back with a sketch that looked like it was straight off the runway!

I’m having such a wonderful trip. Stay tuned for more from the design team of Wharton and Hill!

Miss you much,
Paul xx
