Ho, ho, ho!! That was a serious Christmas! Actually, seriously lazy in my case. After my big party on Christmas Eve, m dog Oscar and I decided we had socialized enough for the holiday season! I’d take a call, make a call, ear a little, clean up a bit and sit down. Then I’d move from the living room to my room, take a nap, get up and do it all over again! At around 7pm, I decided it was time to open all of the beautiful gifts under my tree. All I can say is I feel very blessed to have had this day.
At a certain point, I was even embarrassed in front of Oscar so I decided to get up and bake a few baskets of pumpkin biscuits for my neighbors and a few pies (not for my neighbors :-). My second Mom Cynthia bakes this pie for me every Christmas. I love her so much but I didn’t get to see her this Christmas. So, I baked the pies and the wonderful smell reminded me of her. I think it’s true what they say, food is love! You just have to make sure you don’t get too much of that lovin’! So, you wanna make some pies that help you get a man or a woman, keep your kids happy, bribe your boss or get basically make people do whatever you want them to do?? Well, here it is sweet peas, trust your boy, it’s simple and fabulous!

Brown sugar pie
Mix 1 pkg brown sugar & 3 Tbsp flour (I think light brown sugar tastes best) Melt 2 sticks butter w/ 4 eggs (beaten) Add to sugar mixture Add vanilla 1 teas. 1/2 -3/4 milk Preheat oven to 450 Cook pies for 5 minutes, then turn down to 350., Then 300 (if necessary) Cook for under 45 minutes(I’ve found that if I go over 45 min thinking they’re not done they are too cooked)
Use this recipe and 1/2 again of all the ingredients to fill up 2 deep
dish pie crusts. On a not so happy note, Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died, a family spokesman said. She was 81.
Andrew Freedman said Kitt, who was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, died Thursday in Connecticut of colon cancer. Kitt, a self-proclaimed “sex kitten” famous for her catlike purr, was one of America’s most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and nabbing a third nomination. She also was nominated for several Tonys and two Grammys. I met Eartha Kitt twice, both times we had great conversations, she expressed that she thought I would do well in my work and encouraged me to never give up. Thank you Ms. Kitt. I’ll always remember those moments we shared. Thank you for being such a trailblazer. To Eartha! All my best, Paul Wharton xx |
